Chieftains 2

I grew up listening to my Dad's Chieftains 2 cassette tape all the time. I think we even wore the tape out on long road trips. One of the songs was called 'Banish Misfortune'. So I youtubed the song and found this. I want to buy a tin whistle now. This guy is so good.

I didn't want to post this!!!

Ugh! I didn't want to post this....but what the hell, here ya go. My 2d animation reel I came out of Cal Arts with. It's wayyy too long and there are lots of mistakes and things I would never put on my demo reel today. But you live and learn...right? So please be kind. Also, a lot of this animation was done straight ahead. It took me awhile to get used to the pose to pose method...and I'm still learning.

I have so many other tests that never made it to this reel. One day, when I'm 75, I'll have to digitize them and put them on my invisible 3d hologram future watch. One day.....

By the way, the animated big Ogre in the short clip of " I have a cunning plan..." was inspired by the talented Dan Holland. He's now doing Visual Development at Pixar. I stole a drawing of a hand he drew out of his trash bin one day. It was for one of his films....it was beautiful! Ha! Hey Dan! Did I ever tell you that??

I saw the completed film last Thursday. We had the crew screening and wrap party that night. People were clapping, laughing, and cheering throughout the entire film! What an accomplishment. I'm proud to have worked on it and I do believe it's Dreamwork's best. Please check it out this weekend! Opens this Friday! June 6th! I'll post a list of the shots I animated soon.

Love it or hate it.... here's Cee Lo ( of Gnarles Barkley fame) doing his rendition of Kung Fu Fighting with Jack Black at the Celebrity premiere on Sunday.

The Bernstein's Family Dog

I was with my sister and Dad yesterday evening at the Vet. Our family dog was on his 16th year and suffering from internal bleeding. I drew these while we said our goodbyes. He was somewhat alert and did pick his head up and raise his brows when I entered the room. I love that he had a little spot on his nose that was shaped like a heart. It was a little faded from age...but it was still there.
I was there when my Dad brought him home for us in 1992 and I was with him at the end. He was a great dog.... loving, friendly, and always curious. He was still digging through the kitchen garbage just two weeks ago. He was also a good dancer. You could hold him by his front two paws and do a little tango.
Goodbye Corkscrew J. Cork. You will be missed.

He's coming.....June 6th!

A new trailer for Kung Fu Panda was released today! Check it out! I was an animator on this movie for over a year and am so happy it's finally coming out. The whole crew did an outstanding job...I must say, there's some exceptional talent here at Dreamworks.

And lucky me! They used 4 shots of mine.

1. Tailung on his knees, breaking out of chains.
2. The goose that says "We're dead..."
3. Shifu hitting a giant rock with mystical blue kung fu light!
4. Tailung running on all 4's and leaping off the bridge.

Poll: More disapprove of Bush than any other president

By Paul Steinhauser / CNN

WASHINGTON DC -- A new poll suggests that President Bush is the most unpopular president in modern American history.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday indicates that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president.

"No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president's disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director.

"Bush's approval rating, which stands at 28 percent in our new poll, remains better than the all-time lows set by Harry Truman and Richard Nixon [22 percent and 24 percent, respectively], but even those two presidents never got a disapproval rating in the 70s," Holland said. "The previous all-time record in CNN or Gallup polling was set by Truman, 67 percent disapproval in January 1952."

While Gallup polling goes back to the 1930s, it wasn't until the Truman years that they began surveying monthly approval ratings.

CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider adds, "He is more unpopular than Richard Nixon was just before he resigned from the presidency in August 1974."

President Nixon's disapproval rating in August 1974 stood at 66 percent.

The poll also indicates that support for the war in Iraq has never been lower. Thirty percent of those questioned favored the war, while 68 percent opposed it.

"Americans are growing more pessimistic about the war," Holland said. "In January, nearly half believed that things were going well for the U.S. in Iraq; now that figure has dropped to 39 percent."

The numbers on the Iraq war come on the five-year anniversary of Bush's "Mission Accomplished" moment on board the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, when he proclaimed that "major combat operations in Iraq have ended."

The record-low support for the war in a CNN poll could be one reason behind the president's unpopularity, but it probably is not the only one.

"Support for the war, the assessment of the economy and approval of Mr. Bush are all about the same -- bad," Schneider said.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll was conducted by telephone from Monday through Wednesday among 1,008 adult Americans.

The poll's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Coffee Bat Break

Night

MGMT....wow

I love this song

I love this video

Introducing MGMT- Time to Pretend.
I've been obsessed with finding this song ever since I saw the video on MTV 2 late one night...or actually...early morning. It was stuck in my head and I couldn't find the piece of paper where I wrote the bands' name down. You'd think MGMT would be easy to remember...well it wasn't! I finally heard the song again in my car and wrote the name down on a car repair bill. And here they are.
I like how raw, messy and chaotic the video is.

Hello Dolly....

You might find this surprising but I listen to Dolly Parton now and then. "Jolene" is one of my favorites. She's amazing.

I first heard the song when the White Stripes covered it. I love all the emotion he puts into the song.

If you ever get a chance to see The White Stripes live...do it. I've seen them twice and Jack White is a God on the guitar. It's incredible to watch.

Ultimate Fighter

J.J. Villard and I watched Ultimate Fighting on cable at my place last night. It was bloody, gruesome, gross, disgusting, painful, just plain wrong....and we loved it.
I drew this in his sketchbook.
