Corky

Here we have our family dog. Corky is a 15 year old Cocker Spaniel who has arthritis in his joints. He was attacked yesteday by a dog the size of a bear. Seriously, have any of you ever seen an Akita? My sister was walking him (on the opposite side of the street)when the bear attacked (crossing the street). I had to pull the beast off of him by the scruff of his neck while my sister sat in the grass screaming. I could barely budge him. The owner came quickly and we both got him off. Sad thing is, the Akita had no collar or leash on, he had broken out of it as he lunged after his next meal. Corky now has 2 deep bites on either side of his neck. A little note to all of you Akita owners: Use some common sense next time your 7 year old kid wants to walk a dog that weighs 3 times their weight. People are insane and idiots.

Corky is doing all right now. He's on some meds and is finally wagging his tail.

I really didn't think this movie was going to be anything special. Boy did they prove me wrong.
Wow!
Go see it! It has heart! Yes it's true it really does! Great characters, great writing, and the main character is likeable. It has caricatured animation. Stretch and squash! The characters have weight! You feel like they could really be injured! Funny gags that aren't cliche. Great designs! And most importantly, each character is well thought out and HAS A BACK STORY! Which in turn makes the acting outstanding!

My hats off to you Sony animation crew.....and to Jeff Ranjo, head of story. Damn Jeff, you got me choked up in some scenes. You are my hero. I will see this again in the theatres....no doubt.





Well this is interesting. This is from an interview with Jeff Bridges and Shia LaBeouf...the 2 main voices in the film .

"This film was different than other animated movies in that you were given the opportunity to actually be with the other actors while recording your voice. How did that process work?

Jeff Bridges: “It was in a room about the quarter the size of the stage and they had video cameras set up. We’d all play together and they’d video us. There was lots of improvisation.”

Shia LaBeouf: “They’d set up mics at different locations. We’d move across the room and there’d be a mic set up over there and Jeff would be in the middle of something. I’d be walking from there to here and there’d be a mic set up here and we’d block it just like a play.”

I had a some fun drawing caricatures at a Bat Mitzvah party 2 weeks ago. For those that don't know what a Bat Mitzvah is click here: Batmitzvah
I drew these all on an HP tablet PC using Alias Sketch Pro. Each person took about 10 minutes, that includes the drawing and coloring!

The party was held at the Paramount Studios lot on Melrose Ave and they went all out. I'm talking red carpet treatment. I worked 5 hours and then had to leave, I was exhausted. There were so many cute kids begging me to draw them at the end of the night and they swarmed all over me pleading and shouting. But I had pack up and leave, I hadn't eaten anything and was starving. Sorry kiddos! The last pic is of 2 boys who wanted themselves drawn as bald old men. I had about 15 kids around me laughing hysterically while this was drawn. They kept giving me suggestions as to how to draw them grosser and uglier. When I drew the red pimple they exploded with joy. Those kids made my day.

San Francisco: Golden Gate Park's Rose Garden

He was drawing away when the paparazzos spotted him. He had no clue they were there. Wearing his trusty green shirt, he assumed he was well camouflaged. He was wrong. They pounced on him like a lion on a New York steak...cooked medium well.






Drawing away at three unsuspecting mammals. These creatures were so calm and serene. As if the Rose Garden cast a spell over their senses. They were so chill and relaxed and caused no threat to my well being.




Perhaps with the use of current electronic technology....these drawings will be shown to all of you soon.



Captainyolk Fact Corner:
Here's an interesting fact about me. If you stay for the credits of Shrek 3. Look for Eddie Murphy's name. I animated three green babies sleeping, crawling, and bouncing.
Eddie and I are pals now.

"Winner of Best Dramaturgy Award and 3rd-best-rating at the 2006 Open Russian Festival of Animated Film." Oh it's so good and so funny. The timing is slow paced and very different from today's awful barrage of hedache inducing films (ahem) but
you still get a great sense of humor out of all the characters and the story is fun and silly. Brilliant! Plus there are pauses!! And no annoying music over every single scene.

Hello feature animation peeps out there. Let's bring back some pauses and breathing room in our films. Come on!! Fight those executives tooth and nail for it! Please don't let them walk all over you...you don't deserve it!! Bake them some cookies and maybe they'll leave us artists alone for once.

She was exhausted from a day of dancing. Her legs throbbed and her ankles ached. The performance was two days away. Another day of practice and she was almost ready...but not before rest and a smoothie.

My Mom

My Mom has discovered how great e-mail is and we have started e-mailing each other more often. She sent me this 2 weeks ago and the minute I read it I knew I wanted to post it. It's so beautiful and so "her". The last line kills me....it's such good timing and so funny. I don't know, maybe it's just me because I know her so well, but I was laughing so hard when I read it. I think it's so profound. By the way, Rachel is my twin sister, "Bobi" is my Grandmother and "Zaidi" is my Grandpops. And yes, I did get her permission to post this.
