If you have the time...you must watch

The Murder of Lord Waterbook
by
Alexander Bubnov

I found this on www.drawn.ca

"Winner of Best Dramaturgy Award and 3rd-best-rating at the 2006 Open Russian Festival of Animated Film." Oh it's so good and so funny. The timing is slow paced and very different from today's awful barrage of hedache inducing films (ahem) but
you still get a great sense of humor out of all the characters and the story is fun and silly. Brilliant! Plus there are pauses!! And no annoying music over every single scene.

Hello feature animation peeps out there. Let's bring back some pauses and breathing room in our films. Come on!! Fight those executives tooth and nail for it! Please don't let them walk all over you...you don't deserve it!! Bake them some cookies and maybe they'll leave us artists alone for once.

Here are some original sketches...

Dancer

She was exhausted from a day of dancing. Her legs throbbed and her ankles ached. The performance was two days away. Another day of practice and she was almost ready...but not before rest and a smoothie.

My Mom

My Mom has discovered how great e-mail is and we have started e-mailing each other more often. She sent me this 2 weeks ago and the minute I read it I knew I wanted to post it. It's so beautiful and so "her". The last line kills me....it's such good timing and so funny. I don't know, maybe it's just me because I know her so well, but I was laughing so hard when I read it. I think it's so profound. By the way, Rachel is my twin sister, "Bobi" is my Grandmother and "Zaidi" is my Grandpops. And yes, I did get her permission to post this.

Hi Jeremy,
We've heard from Rachel a few times. Guess she's really enjoying the city. She's bringing me bagels. I heard the food there is fantastic! How is your work coming along? When are you drawing on the HP board? Hope you're staying healthy. Happy St.Patrick's Day on Sat. I'll drink to your health and peace of mind. I love you as always. Moma
P.S. come see our photos we had printed from the Digital camera. It's a year's worth. Zaidi has thumping on his left shoulder sometimes so I'm taking him to the heart dr. Bobi has swollen feet and legs.
Jeremy, please don't get old.

Be Bold

Glen Keane lectured at Cal Arts last night. Still drawing, still filled with passion, and still spreading the love of art. He showed artists he loves and photos he's collected throughout the years that really inspire him. He even demonstrated how he cleans up his rough drawings. It was incredible. He utilizes every little pencil stroke and line of energy in his first pass to capture the essence of it. You can easily start filling in forms and draw correct anatomy to make that clean up work...but it'll lose energy really fast. He's not afraid to trust his first impulse...and with his understanding of the human form and caricature...he makes it work and look good. Students were filming some of this so hopefully it will show up on youtube soon. You have got to see it. While watching him draw I actually felt like some of the kids who have watched me draw and caricature. It was magical. I love the way a kids face is in awe as they watch you make something appear out of nothing. Their eyes bug out and they tap their friends on the shoulder to watch. They are mesmerized. Last night, I was mesmerized.

I found a clip! Here's Glen drawing the Beast.

A trip through my hand...

A phone doodle snuck up on me tonight.
It slithered and and spit right out of my hand as fast as
a humming birds' wings.

There's no controlling
the phone doodle...
it does what it pleases
and you have to accept it.

This made me laugh sooo hard!

Maybe this is old...but I don't care, I just found it.

I love everything about this. The setup, the attack, the payoff...the way the guy gets so angry he throws pigeon feed at the giant bird! But it's not an ordinary throw, it's a violent, "why did you scare my babies" throw! Brilliant!

And if you feel like laughing some more....well just watch "Tim and Eric's Awesome Show Great Job" on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network Sunday nights.
Thank me later. Here's a clip:

In honor of valentine's day..

Hilarious...
I give you... Ah, L'Amour by Don Hertzfeldt
Enjoy....

"Ah, L'Amour" (1995) was produced during Don's freshman year at UC Santa Barbara for a beginning production class, and was never intended to be screened publicly. The two minute 16mm short was somehow completed in just a few weeks despite Don having had little experience working with film; made most noticeable by the visible fingerprints all over the camera lens. By no small miracle, Don's shaky guitar soundtrack - recorded solo in his dorm room on a broken down boom-box - somehow stayed in sync."

And who can resist a great peanuts cartoon...

Remember this?

And one more for good measure...

What makes me happy...(updated)

Awesome....
Why won't this dance make a comeback? I guess it's up to me to bring it back. Look at those moves!
Check out those elbow grabs! And chicken wing poses! This makes me happy.

Look! Here's the original! I like the daft punk version better.
